Editorial Standards
How the Beam journal is written, checked and kept honest.
Who writes Beam content
Articles in the Beam journal are produced by the Beam Editorial Team, working from Beam's own frameworks, professional experience and established wellbeing practice. Beam uses digital tools to support parts of its editorial process. Health and wellbeing content is checked for accuracy and sources are reviewed before publication. Every article is reviewed by a person, and we do not attribute articles to an individual author unless that person genuinely wrote them.
Review
Where an article is reviewed by a named person, that review is genuine and the subject falls within their professional knowledge and experience. Where a topic needs specialist expertise beyond our team, medical, psychological or nutritional detail, for example, we either seek an appropriately qualified reviewer or do not publish the claim. We never invent reviewers or credentials.
What we will not publish
Fabricated research, references, statistics or quotations. Medical promises. Treatment, diagnosis or cure claims. Fear-based messaging about sleep or health. Content designed to make you feel worse so an app can make you feel better.
Corrections and updates
When evidence or official guidance changes, or an error is found, we update the article and note the review date. We do not change publication dates to make old content look new. Spotted something wrong? Tell us via the support hub and we will look at it.
The boundary that matters
Beam journal articles are general wellbeing education. They are not medical advice and are never a substitute for a conversation with your GP or another qualified professional. Every health-adjacent article carries this reminder, because it is true every time.
